Music by Marina presents Hannulelauri
September 08, 2012 08:18 AM PDT
Hannulelauri is a disco-house duo of Hannu Nieminen and Lauri Soini from Helsinki, Finland.
While it may be a new name to many, Hannulelauri has a solid dance music pedigree dating back to the halcyon days of Acid House's first surge of popularity in Helsinki in the late 80's, where DJ Ender (aka Hannu) was one of the first DJ's in Finland championing the sound.
Ender's long musical history has led him many places including deep club collaborations with Pepe Deluxé and as co-founder of jazz-dance collective Nuspirit Helsinki.
Joining up with Lauri Soini, the two have forged ahead as Hannulelauri, embracing 80's style, italo disco and spaced-out rock grooves, giving it their own Finnish twist since 2009.

Music by Marina presents President Bongo (from GusGus)
June 16, 2012 11:56 AM PDT
President Bongo (Stephan Stephensen his real name) is a great photographer, producer and sailor, but he's almost known to be a member of the electronic band GusGus since 1995.
GusGus name refers to a German film (Ali : Fear Eats the Soul), where a female character is cooking a meal for her lover, pronouncing it "Gus-Gus" instead of couscous.
After 6 records, short films and innumerable experimental music videos released on various labels since 1995 (latest on Kompakt), President Bongo has done remix work for the likes of Captain Comatose, Tim Deluxe, Superpitcher, Sigurrós, Ada, Bjork, Wareika and Super Mama Djambo to name a few, exhibited photographic projects and constantly produces something.

Music by Marina presents Pilooski
May 05, 2012 10:21 AM PDT
Pilooski. No need to introduce him, it suits me. He was my first post on this blog.
I asked him 5 months ago in a party if he could make a mix for my blog, he answered me why not. Then no news. When I saw him again a few weeks ago for a Discodeine live, I took the opportunity of asking him again.
Interview in french in http://www.musicbymarina.fr/pilooski
His 11mn mixtape tells a (love?) story. The original title is Hold me in reverse.
Pilooski.

Music by Marina presents Pulp Disco & the Outcasts
March 17, 2012 10:20 AM PDT
Pulp Disco & The Outcasts was a well kept secret in the dark Manchester. However Mark Rejekt and Stefan Juniper have been making noises for a long, long time.
Stefan Juniper is a legend of the Manchester music scene : as a producer he has had releases on Rob Gretton’s (New Order Manager) Pleasure Records, before being signed to Creation label (home to Oasis & Primal Scream) and published by BMG & Warner Chappel. He began his career in the early 1990s as part of the MVIT Soundsystem, promoters of legendary warehouse parties in Manchester and the North West of England. During these heady days of acid house, Stefan supported The Stone Roses at Spike Island alongside Paul Oakenfold and Frankie Bones and has toured as support for bands such as Happy Mondays, Oasis or Run DMC.
Years of first-class hedonism and ‘out of this world’ manoeuvres have had the pair craving for the (not so) quiet life so they can breathe the stellar wind into their tripped-up, nu-psychedelic project… Pulp Disco & the Outcasts.
Music by Marina presents Brioski
February 09, 2012 12:00 PM PST
Toomy Disco - Always Awake (Nang)
Brioski hails from Milan in Italy. He first fell in love with music via early Italo disco compilations, “Mixage”. Progressing onto his Technics 1200 in his teenage years he eventually graduated into music production and so grew his love of synthesizers, analog machines and sequencers.
He started his DJ career with a wide range of influences (hip hop, funk, soul, disco, chicago house & techno) but now his sound edges towards balearic and psychedelic atmospheres, with deep and percussive roots. All of these sounds can be heard through the music he produces; a combination of old school reminiscences, vintage machines, funk bass and his ever present favorite synth the Roland Model 101.

Toomy Disco - Always Awake (Nang)
Music By Marina is a musical blog (musicbymarina.fr) which was created in January 2011 by a party girl living in France, Paris.
Marina is full of contradictions: she loves rock, was born in Marseilles (a town where hip hop is king) and has been dancing in clubs for nearly 20 years.
Her hobbies :
- Studying the discography of a very famous artist such as Madonna or The Beatles in order to find gems unknown by the public and that could become today’s hits.
- Finding on the net new artists who will experience a pretty nice success few months later.
- Contacting her favourite electro artists, from Paris to Manchester, including Stockholm, Buenos Aires or Milan, to ask them to prepare special Music by Marina mix tapes and to give people the opportunity to discover their favs.
The mixtapes are posted with an interview of the artist and are downloadable on Itunes.
Since 2012 The Showcase (biggest club in Paris) has granted her an all access to meet the artists, to get interviews, pictures and mixtapes to enhance her blog.
The rock band INXS label having loved her playlist « Music by Marina presents INXS », decides on their European Tour in December 2011 to win concert tickets via her blog.
INXS grants her an exclusive interview after their concert in Paris and advertises her on Facebook and Twitter.
